Cat Wells is a Canadian Blues artist, vocalist, song writer with ballsy vocals and expressive stage presence. Her ever flexible, near 4 octave voice, has been compared to Susan Tedeschi, Beth Hart and Janis Joplin. Her fondness of syncopation pulls her toward funky blues stylings. Cat’s early mentors were Billie Holiday and Etta James. She has been honoured as Vocalist of the year twice by the Okanagan Arts Council and has been featured in Okanagan Life Magazine and Wild Life Magazine. She has performed at numerous Blues Festivals including "White Rock Blues Festival", "Drumheller High Water Blues Caravan" and "Hope Mountain Blues Festival" to name a few. Some of her career highlights include support for Jeff Healey, Harpdog Brown and ZZ Top amongst many others. She has released 2 CDs’ “Cat Wells Live with the Bowman Trio”, “Cat Wells – Bootleg Blues” and an EP "Brand New Shoes. She is currently finishing her next compilation “Anything and Everything” featuring artists Jason Buie, Johnny Ferreira (Colin James band) and the late Sonny Rhodes.
Jim Penner is a highly versatile musician, known for his ability to effortlessly blend genres such as blues, funk, and rock. With a wide range of musical influences, Jim brings a unique and dynamic sound to his performances.
Throughout his career, Jim has had the privilege of opening for renowned acts such as Kick Axe, Legs Diamond, and Randy Miesner of the Eagles.
Jim has had the honor of entertaining troops from the US Air Force Entertainment Core PACAF. His captivating performances have uplifted and brought joy to those who serve their country, demonstrating his ability to connect with audiences on a profound level.
Currently, Jim Penner is the lead guitarist for the Cat Wells Blues Band, where he continues to push the boundaries of his musical abilities.
Ian Freedman is known for his soulful blues and infectious funk grooves.
Drawing inspiration from legendary musicians such as Al Hurt, Chris Squire (Yes), and the incomparable Stanley Clarke, Ian has developed a distinctive sound . His ability to seamlessly fuse blues and funk elements creates a dynamic and energetic musical experience.
Ian has graced the stages of renowned music festivals, including the esteemed Blue Mountain Blues Festival, where his performances left a lasting impression on both critics and fans alike. In addition, his exceptional talent has been showcased at high-profile events such as The Vancouver Sun Run and the prestigious 2010 Olympics.
Currently, Ian can be found lending his musical prowess as the bass player for the acclaimed Cat Wells Blues Band.
Rob Cundal is an accomplished rock and blues musician known for his powerhouse drumming and dynamic stage presence, with a career that has spanned several decades.
Rob's proficiency behind the drum kit is greatly inspired by legendary drummers such as Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Neil Peart of Rush, Danny Carey of Tool, and Doug Clifford of Creedence Clearwater Revival. This diverse range of influences manifests in his unique sound, combining the thunderous energy of classic rock with the intricate rhythms of blues styles.
Throughout his career, Rob has had the honor of sharing the stage with an impressive roster of renowned artists, opening for iconic bands including Nazareth, Headpins, Trooper, Streetheart, Harlequin, 54-40, The Payolas, Alannah Myles, Sass Jordan, and Blue Rodeo.
Currently, Rob is performing with the Cat Wells Blues Band and expanding his creativity through studio work on original music.
