
Cat Wells is a Canadian Blues artist, vocalist, song writer with ballsy vocals and expressive stage presence. Her voice has been compared to Susan Tedeschi, Beth Hart and Janis Joplin. Cat’s fondness of syncopation pulls her toward funky blues stylings. Cat’s early mentors were Billie Holiday and Etta James. She has been honoured as Vocalist of the year twice by the Okanagan Arts Council and has been featured in Okanagan Life Magazine and Wild Life Magazine. Cat and her band have performed at numerous Blues Festivals including "White Rock Blues Festival"-Whiterock BC, “Rendezvous Blues Festival”-Oroville Washington and "Beachs Blues Festival"-Toronto Ont to name a few and they were recently invited to Memphis to perform at the Women in Blues Showcase. Some of Cat’s career highlights include support for Jeff Healey, Harpdog Brown and ZZ Top amongst many others. Cat has released 2 CDs’ “Cathy-Ann Wells Live with the Bowman Trio”, “Bootleg Blues” and December 16, 2025 released "Brand New Shoes” featuring artists Jason Buie, Johnny Ferreira (Colin James band) and the late Sonny Rhodes. The latest release is now charting on both the "Roots Music Report" and the "Big Blues Charts". The band is currently working on their next release.
Jim Penner is a highly versatile musician, known for his ability to effortlessly blend genres such as blues, funk, and rock. With a wide range of musical influences, Jim brings a unique and dynamic sound to his performances.
Throughout his career, Jim has had the privilege of opening for renowned acts such as Kick Axe, Legs Diamond, and Randy Miesner of the Eagles.
Jim has had the honor of entertaining troops from the US Air Force Entertainment Core PACAF. His captivating performances have uplifted and brought joy to those who serve their country, demonstrating his ability to connect with audiences on a profound level.
Currently, Jim Penner is the lead guitarist for the Cat Wells Blues Band, where he continues to push the boundaries of his musical abilities.
Ian Freedman is known for his soulful blues and infectious funk grooves.
Drawing inspiration from legendary musicians such as Al Hurt, Chris Squire (Yes), and the incomparable Stanley Clarke, Ian has developed a distinctive sound . His ability to seamlessly fuse blues and funk elements creates a dynamic and energetic musical experience.
Ian has graced the stages of renowned music festivals, including the esteemed Blue Mountain Blues Festival, where his performances left a lasting impression on both critics and fans alike. In addition, his exceptional talent has been showcased at high-profile events such as The Vancouver Sun Run and the prestigious 2010 Olympics.
Currently, Ian can be found lending his musical prowess as the bass player for the acclaimed Cat Wells Blues Band.
Scott’s ability to support artists with style, substance and an organic, flowing groove has helped endear him to many performers. Equally important is Scott’s tremendous work ethic, dedication and graciousness.
Scott has lent his musical muscle to a host of outstanding artists. He's been in the drum throne for Grammy-Nominated multi-instrumentalist John Lee Sanders, Maple Blues Award Winner David Vest, Grammy Award Winner Donald Ray Johnson, Juno and AMA Award Winner Alfie Zappacosta and celebrated keyboardist Keith Emerson, of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
Scott holds two music degrees—an honors diploma from the famed Percussion Institute of Technology (PIT) in Los Angeles and another from Humber College in Toronto. Scott also studied privately with drum gurus Jim Blackley, Steve Houghton, Ralph Humphries, Jeff Porcaro, Paul Delong, Roger Flock, Barry Elmes, Rick Lazar, Memo Acevedo, Chris Adams, co-author of The New Breed II and Bob Moses, author of the noted drum instructional, Drum Wisdom.
